I. PRIVACY AND SECURITY

Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana (Second Harvest Food Bank) respects the privacy of our constituents and is serious about protecting your privacy. This policy will explain how we gather and use personal information submitted to us. Therefore, by being in communication with us, you are agreeing and accepting this policy.


II. INFORMATION COLLECTED

Second Harvest Food Bank only collects information that is volunteered during the registration process or in any responses to specific information requests. We do need this information in order to provide services that you request and respect your preferred channels of communication. Examples of the information collected includes: information knowingly provided by you through online forms, surveys, email addresses, personal financial and/or demographic information, charitable contributions, telephone numbers, and addresses. We may also collect your IP address and information through the use of electronic 'cookies.' However, we limit the use and collection of information about you to the extent which is necessary to administer our operations.


III. HOW WE USE THAT INFORMATION

Second Harvest Food Bank does not sell, rent or share donor information with third parties. Except as otherwise indicated, Second Harvest Food Bank uses the personally identifiable information ("Personal Information"): (a) to respond to any donor inquiries or questions about our services; (b) for internal marketing purposes and as part of Second Harvest Food Bank’s donor database; (c) to provide donors additional and updated information, materials and other advertisements regarding Second Harvest Food Bank services; (d) to cooperate with government officials or parties in litigation under process of law, or as otherwise required by law; (e) to protect the security or integrity of the Site; (f) to protect against a threat of safety or destruction of property; and/or (g) to protect against legal liability.


IV. REQUESTING REMOVAL FROM MAILING LISTS

If you have submitted personally identifiable information (e.g. name, address, phone number, email address) and wish to reduce or cease contact with Second Harvest Food Bank, you may send the request to givetoday@secondharvest.org or call 504.729.6332 (please call weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm).


V. SECURITY OF CREDIT CARD INFORMATION

We care about the safety of your credit card transaction: secure server technology is used throughout the online donation process.  We use high-grade encryption software and the https security protocol to communicate with your browser software.  As a result, it is extremely difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us.

If you prefer, contributions by credit card may also be made by telephone.  You may donate using your credit card by calling 504.729.6332.  Please call weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Your information will be recorded on an internal transaction form, and securely transmitted to our Finance Department to be processed.
 

VI. INTERNET PROTOCOL ADDRESS

We collect an IP address from all visitors to our Site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.


VII. USE OF “COOKIES”

Our Site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our Site. Cookies are pieces of information that some Web sites transfer to the computer that is browsing that Web site and are used for record-keeping purposes at many Web sites. Use of cookies makes Web-surfing easier by performing certain functions such as saving your passwords, your personal preferences regarding your use of the particular Web site and to make sure you don't see the same ad repeatedly. Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard.

Your browser is probably set to accept cookies. However, if you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies. If you choose to have your browser refuse cookies, it is possible that some areas of our Site will not function properly when you view them.


VIII. SHARING INFORMATION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES

Conditions under which the information may be shared with law enforcement agencies:
Second Harvest Food Bank or its agents may share information received from its Web sites with law enforcement agencies. For example, if a breach of our IT security protections were to occur, the information collected by our servers and staff could be shared with appropriate law enforcement officials.

IX. CHANGE IN POLICY

We reserve the right to change this policy at any time. Depending on the nature of the change, we may notify you of the existence and location of the new or revised policy through email or by posting the changes online.


X. RESTRICTION OF LIABILITY

The information provided in this privacy policy should not be construed as giving business, legal or other advice or warranting as fail proof, the security of the information produced through www.no-hunger.org.


XI. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

If for some reason you believe this site has not adhered to these principles, please notify the Second Harvest Food Bank by email at givetoday@secondharvest.org or by phone at 504.729.6332. If our web pages are not fully in compliance with our stated policies, they will be corrected.
