Join us for Harvest at Home and Rubber Duck Derby!

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this April, Harvest at Home aims to encourage participants to come together, share a meal and start a conversation about hunger in our community. Our New Orleans event is a two-part effort, beginning with a special fundraiser dinner on April 7 created by Chef Sue Zemanick of Gautreau’s and Ivy, followed by an ‘at home’ initiative throughout the month of April for those who want to celebrate and converse in their own homes.

Second Harvest is also launching Lafayette’s inaugural Harvest at Home event this year, with a farm-to-table dinner prepared by local chef Jeremy Conner, Executive Chef at The Village Café and Pour.

Participating patrons in both cities will receive a special gift bag that includes a recipe from our featured chefs and some of the key ingredients, educational materials about hunger in south Louisiana and several lagniappe items.

Rubber Duck Derby has grown into one of Second Harvest’s largest fundraising events. Held during the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo Festival in New Orleans, the Duck Derby is a fun and easy way to engage our community in the fight against hunger. This highly visible, family friendly event attracts a huge crowd to watch thousands of yellow ducks racing along the Bayou!

To participate, individuals ‘adopt’ a rubber duck for $5 (or a quack-pack for $25) and get a chance to win great prizes if their duck is one of the first to cross the finish line. This year’s grand prize is a $5,000 cash prize; second place is a $1,000 gift card from Rouse’s.
