Member Agencies
Our network of faith-based and nonprofit member agencies help Second Harvest Food Bank fight hunger and feed hope in south Louisiana. Member agencies provide nutritious food and fresh produce to children and seniors, distribute emergency food boxes to working families dealing with crisis, and serve hot meals to the homeless. Items received from the community through food drives, retail partnerships and national support from the Feeding America network are distributed through 240 member agencies serving an estimated 262,800 individuals annually. Mobile Pantry
In many rural communities, including those impacted by the storms of the past four years, food deserts are prevalent. Food deserts are areas with high poverty rates, no grocery store access, limited availability of fresh foods, a large number of fast food and convenience stores, and high rates of obesity and diet-related illnesses. One solution we are able to provide to the challenges these areas face is our Mobile Pantry Program.
The Mobile Pantry is a traveling food pantry that delivers food directly to individuals and families who live in areas with limited resources and infrastructure to support full-time grocery stores or Second Harvest Food Bank member agencies. In times of an emergency or disaster, the Mobile Pantry Program also allows us to quickly deliver food to affected communities.
Each Mobile Pantry carries nonperishable foods such as rice, canned goods, pasta and cereals and is equipped with refrigerated bays for frozen food, meat and fresh produce. A Mobile Pantry has the capacity to provide enough food for 100 families.

Louisiana Assistance Nutrition Program (LANIAP)
Led by the five regional food banks of the Louisiana Food Bank Association (LFBA), The LANIAP initiative uses state funds to purchase food grown, made or sold in Louisiana -- helping a struggling sector of the economy devoted to agriculture, fishing, food manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing. This food is then distributed to member agencies serving all 64 parishes across the state of Louisiana. Since its inception in 2006, the LFBA's LANIAP initiative has provided more than 14.8 million meals to those in need.
