Glean with Second Harvest
A citrus farm in Belle Chasse has generously donated their satsumas to Second Harvest Food Bank and we need volunteers to help pick!

Kids Cafe Volunteers
This program provides free meals to low-income children participating in at-risk after school programs.  Volunteers staff the Community Kitchen, cleaning, plating and preparing up to 1,200 meals daily, Monday - Friday.
 
Shift time available:  Monday - Thursday, 1PM - 4PM

Sort and Salvage Food Donations
Currently Second Harvest is recruiting volunteers to help with sorting and repacking donated food items during the shift times below.  Group of 25 or less or individual volunteers as young as 9 years old are welcomed.  Shift times can be shortened to accommodate the needs of the group.

Cooking Matters
Cooking Matters provides at risk families and individuals the skills, knowledge and confidence to make healthy and affordable meals through a hands-on six-week series of classes.  This program is powered by volunteers and we are in need of more Classroom Assistants.
 
Classroom Assistants directly help the volunteer chef, nutritionist and participants throughout the course.  No previous culinary or nutrition background necessary.

Super Service Challenge
Consider participating in the Super Service Challenge!  As New Orleans prepares to host the Super Bowl, the Brees Dream Foundation and Companies With a Mission have teamed up to give away one million dollars to local charities.  The Super Service Challenge allows volunteer groups to compete to earn an award of $2,000 - $25,000 to help Second Harvest Food Bank fight hunger in south Louisiana.
