SHFB Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with Second Harvest Food Bank to Feed Hope in south Louisiana!

Cooking Matters
Cooking Matters is a nutrition education program that fights hunger by teaching families how to make healthy and budget-wise food choices. Cooking Matters volunteers not only have the power to educate, but they inadvertently increase self-esteem and strengthen social networks. Your time and contributions help create a long-term solution to hunger by giving families the confidence and ability to be more self-sufficient, improve their eating habits, and food budgeting skills.

Cooking Matters relies on volunteers in various capacities to run the classes. Volunteers should be 18 years of age or older and have a passion for cooking or nutrition.

To learn more about this exciting program, contact us for volunteer orientation and training by contacting Lauren Robinson at or 504-729-2849.
