Cooking Matters at the Store is a one-hour nutrition and food budgeting class that provides at-risk families and individuals with the skills and confidence to stretch their food dollars and find healthy, affordable groceries.
Classes are taught by Second Harvest nutrition instructors and dietetic students from local universities. The class is structured as an interactive grocery store tour. At the end of class, each participant finds ingredients to make a healthy meal for four for $10 or less, paid for by Second Harvest.
In 2014 we held 40 Cooking Matters at the Store classes with a total of 300 participants.
If you are interested in participating in a class, please contact Karen Gardner, Community Nutrition Specialist, at 504.729.6339 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are interested in supporting our Cooking Matters at the Store program, please give today. Each class costs $300 to run.
