Job Opening: Produce Triage Coordinator (New Orleans Facility)

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the efficient flow of produce through Second Harvest’s warehouse operations. This position triages produce based on quality, quantity and perishability, builds orders based on agency needs, transfers product between warehouse locations, and prepares and submits timely and accurate inventory reports. This position will be responsible for increasing the amount of produce that reaches the Second Harvest network and reducing overall waste.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • As part of warehouse operations, effectively push produce through warehouse and to partner agency network.
  • Triages produce daily based on quantity, quality and perishability.
  • Working with the Programs and Services team, builds orders based on agency distribution schedule and special programs.
  • Communicates with Food Sourcing Team to determine product availability and any food safety issues.
  • Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of Ceres.
  • Monitor inventory levels at both locations and takes the lead on transfers both physical and in Ceres between locations.
  • Leads volunteers during produce repack shifts.
  • Responsible for receiving, evaluating and documenting product recalls in accordance with   Feeding America, AIB and our organizations recall policy.
  • Follows all AIB, Feeding America, OSHA and other Federal, State and Local requirements.
  • Participate in meetings and committees as appropriate.
  • Comply with all SHFB policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and courteous demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet company needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Degree in operations, quality management, inventory control or related field preferred.

Experience: 1-3 years of inventory, distribution and warehouse experience

 Skills and Capabilities

The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes:

  • Intermediate-level knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be detailed oriented, an independent worker with excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a range of temperature environments
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, be comfortable on a ladder and lift >30 pounds
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Solid time management skills; ability to complete assignments on time and with minimal oversight
  • High degree of professionalism, flexibility and initiative
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, goals-driven environment that emphasizes a friendly culture and ownership of work responsibilities
