Job opening: Repack Supervisor (Part-time, New Orleans facility) 

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing overall leadership to the repack/salvage area. Supervises the Warehouse Specialist; assesses volunteer needs; trains and supervises volunteers; and tracks and records volunteer hours and production. Responsible for maintaining and submitting inventory documentation and assisting the Volunteer Coordinator as needed. This position reports to the Operations Manager. The schedule is Tues.– Fri., approximately 5 hours per day (11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and Saturday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Train, assign tasks, and supervise volunteers and Warehouse Specialist.
  • Track volunteer hours and production.
  • Maintain accurate inventory documentation and submit information to the Inventory Control Coordinator daily.
  • Support the Volunteer Coordinator when needed.
  • Greet new volunteer groups, make presentations, and train volunteers on Feeding America guidelines.
  • Prepare and clean the loading dock and repack area before and after volunteer groups.
  • Complete volunteer tracking forms and submit to the Volunteer Coordinator daily.
  • Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in scheduling volunteers, planning and attending food drives, or other duties as needed.
  • Comply with all SHFB policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; assist with keeping the facility and grounds clean.
  • Attend monthly all-staff meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Represent SHFB in a professional, positive and courteous manner.
  • Assist other staff members with special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Forklift certification preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year in inventory management. Non-profit experience preferred.

  • Possess excellent customer service skills and exceptional presentation skills. 
  • Ability to handle multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and scheduling.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the capacity to produce accurate work.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50-pound loads.

Allowable Substitutions:  Combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and skills for the position may be substituted for experience at the company’s discretion.
