POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Outreach Supervisor leads the Volunteer Services and Repack team in order to expand and promote community opportunities to assist Second Harvest Food Bank in fulfilling its mission to feed South Louisiana.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for development of a team that cultivates sustaining and meaningful relationships with external
  • Develops the Produce Triage system and supervises the Produce Triage Coordinator to improve the quality, quantity and equitable distribution of fresh produce
  • Responsible for the overall leadership to the repack/salvage
  • Leads the successful implementation of 50/50 raffles and other community volunteer
  • Develops a comprehensive plan to engage and build awareness of volunteer opportunities within both facilities and with community
  • Develop, maintain and implement policies and procedures for SHFB Volunteer Policy and Procedure
  • Oversees departmental information reporting, tracking and maintenance of volunteer
  • Serves as subject matter expert in regards to volunteer software
  • Supervises and oversees the development of volunteer staff members in both facilities.
  • Supports and assist Human Resources in the recruitment and management of long-term volunteer opportunities, including internships and AmeriCorps
  • Oversees volunteer coordination for special
  • Directs the development and implementation of volunteer giving
  • Responsible for the development and management of the departmental
  • Manages the content of the monthly volunteer e-newsletter.
  • Responsible for following USDA, Feeding America, OSHA, AIB and other federal or state guidelines in relation to food, employee and volunteer safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical knowledge).

Experience: 1-2 years of experience with direct contact to the public involving volunteer coordination,  public relations, marketing, and/or customer service or equivalent work experience.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate information in a professional manner with both staff and volunteers representing a diverse community of people.
