Job opening: Program and Innovation Manager 

POSITION SUMMARY: Under direction of the Chief Impact Officer, develop and implement targeted strategic initiatives through community partners, programs, distribution and cross-functional teams; provide leadership and ensure that all matters of government programs, health-based partners, and school partnerships are in compliance with appropriate requirements.


ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all inclusive)

  • Develop, ensure implementation and evaluate program strategies that improve distribution and access to meals for targeted client population. Track program outcomes and make recommendation to address community needs.
  • Maintain budget requirements including ongoing review and analysis of operational costs and data.
  • Ensure that programs funded are meeting their stated goals
  • Plan and develop multi-year strategies and objectives to support current and long-term strategic objectives of programs to meet the need.
  • Work closely with the Impact team to evaluate innovative initiatives to strategically reduce food insecurity, increase access to healthy food and improve services.
  • Facilitate organizational decision-making, operational execution, and resource allocation based on data and sound reasoning.
  • Provide technical assistance, annual orientation, and training to program partners.
  • Work closely with communications and development teams to promote programs in the community, building awareness, credibility, demand and support.
  • Work with a broad base of partners, coalitions and low-income people on solutions to hunger and its root causes in support of SHFB’s mission. Represent SHFB at community meetings as needed. Develop strategies to balance community needs with resources.
  • Comply with all SHFB policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and courteous demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet company needs.



Education:  Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in working with a team.

The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes:

  • Proven success in designing, planning, executing and evaluating programs and services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food banking, public policy, program evaluation and nutrition is helpful.
  • Requires 25%-50% local travel within the SHFB service area.
