It’s Hunger Action Month!

For the eleventh year, Second Harvest joins the Feeding America network of food banks to participate in Hunger Action Month. Throughout September, our goal is to raise awareness of how hunger impacts communities across South Louisiana, and how you can get involved.

There are many ways to join our mission to fight hunger:

Volunteer: More than 9,000 volunteers help us every year, by preparing kids’ meals, helping in our donation repack room, and in many other areas. We can accommodate groups of 25 or more, and regularly have volunteer groups from businesses, schools, churches, and other organizations.  Click here to learn more about our volunteer opportunities.

Monetary donations: Every $1 raised means another four meals we can provide to someone in need. Click here to make a monetary donation. 

Donate food and/or hold a food drive: Nearly all of the 35+ million pounds of food we distribute annually is donated to us. Click here to learn more about how to hold a food drive to support Second Harvest.   

Have a Rice Day! Through September, when you purchase a 5-lb bag of Cajun Country Rice, they will donate a half-pound of rice to Second Harvest. Click here for all the details.
