In honor of Hunger Action Month and National Rice Month, Second Harvest kicks off a month-long rice drive to help feed people in need in South Louisiana. Your help ensures that everyone we serve can “Have a Rice Day!”
In Louisiana, rice is a staple. Can you imagine red beans without rice? Gumbo without rice? Jambalaya…well, that would just be meat without the rice. Our food just wouldn’t be the same. For nearly 400,000 people in South Louisiana struggling with hunger, rice doesn’t just make their food better…donated rice IS their food. It’s nutritious and flexible for cooking, so it’s the perfect food to donate. There are several ways to help:

As part of our Have a Rice Day! campaign, we’d like you to share your favorite recipe(s) using rice. Louisiana cooking is all about the rice, so we know you have plenty of good recipes.
After the end of September, we’ll combine all entries into a Recipe Booklet that will be downloadable. We’ll even include recipes from our own kitchen.
