Brand New to the Bayou

The Bayou Region Distribution Center is having a huge impact on neighbors

This summer, something big happened in the Bayou Region. Our brand-new Bayou Region Distribution Center opened its doors, and already, the impact is being felt.

Every day, local trucks now deliver fresh food across the region, reaching people who used to wait for twice-weekly deliveries from our Harahan facility, 50 miles away. The new warehouse is already cutting down travel time and increasing food access for the 30,000+ people in our Bayou communities facing hunger.

“This changes everything,” says Kimber Ratcliff, the Bayou regional director. “Now, we can get more food to families quicker and more often. This is a huge step in helping build an even stronger Bayou community.”

To start, the Bayou Region Distribution Center will support 24 local food pantry partners, 21 kids feeding programs, four senior programs, and two shelters, with more on the horizon. The facility also creates space to grow, with areas designed for future meal production, volunteer shifts, and faster disaster response. Thanks to this new center, local farmers, fishers, and grocers can now contribute food directly, strengthening the community’s role in feeding its own.

Your support made this possible. You helped build the foundation for faster response, fresher food, and a more resilient Bayou. And we’re just getting started.
