Do you have extra fruit or produce going to waste? We’d like to help you pick it and help local families at the same time!
No matter if you have 1 tree or 100, we will gladly help you make sure your nutritious, fresh food will make its way to a South Louisiana family in need.
For more information or to schedule a harvest, please contact sjackson@no-hunger.org. Please include the type of tree, estimated dates when tree will be ready to pick and approximate location.
Interested in volunteering? Please sign up at http://no-hunger.org/volunteer/. Harvest opportunities are posted weekly during citrus season.
The Fruit Tree Project is a Second Harvest volunteer-driven program that collects fruit and produce from local residents. This means we are now able to help secure donations of nutritious fruit from generous individuals, and it also gives the community additional volunteer opportunities to help harvest the fruit.
The Fruit Tree Project focuses on picking mainly from the yards of individual homeowners with fewer than 10 fruit trees. But if you have a much larger farm or orchard, we’d also like to hear from you! We are fortunate to have some very large local farms donate excess or slightly blemished produce that would otherwise wind up in a landfill.
Success, you have been subscribed.
