Second Harvest Food Bank stands ready to respond to the needs of communities across our 23-parish service area, from the Texas border to the Mississippi state line.

In coordination with local agencies and partners, Second Harvest is ready with essential resources. Water, snacks, and essential supplies are available for immediate distribution, with hot meals and cleaning supplies ready if needed in the weeks to follow.

Second Harvest has a proven track record of responding to major disasters in South Louisiana. In its 40+ year history, Second Harvest has been on the ground following more than 20 major disasters, including hurricanes, floods, and other events. The response to Hurricane Ida in 2021 is a testament to Second Harvest’s ability to scale its efforts:

For Hurricane Francine we distributed:
-Over 280k pounds of food, water, and supplies

-Over 13,000 meals cooked by our kitchen staff.

Together, we can ensure that every household in South Louisiana has access to nutritious food, not only during disasters but every day of the year.

NEED ASSISTANCE?

If you or someone you know needs food assistance, please contact our partners with 232-HELP (Lafayette) or 211 (all other locations). They will help direct you to disaster assistance in your community.  Additionally, you can call the Food Bank at 504-734-1322 to be directed to an open agency near you.
