Job opening: Distribution Supervisor (New Orleans facility) 

Position Summary: The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for organizing, leading, directing and controlling all distribution functions in order to achieve the highest delivery standards possible.

Accountabilities (not all inclusive)

  • Supervise order selectors (Warehouse Specialists) for public warehousing and food bank distribution.
  • Collaborate with public warehouse and agency relations teams to ensure all orders are pulled and processed to meet pick-up/delivery schedule.
  • Coordinate with Receiving Supervisor to ensure distribution facility is clean and organized.
  • Develop and monitor operations budget related to labor and equipment costs.
  • Supervise all outbound operations and logistics.
  • Create and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports on order productivity, distribution, and logistics capacity.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Control to document, implement, and improve order selection processes and procedures.
  • Understand and implement all AIB, FA, OSHA, and other Federal, State, and Local requirements.
  • Ensure
  • Personally coach, train, and mentor direct reports in order to ensure personal growth and career development.
  • Conduct performance reviews for all staff within the department.
  • Participate in meetings and committees as appropriate.
  • Comply with all SHFB policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and courteous demeanor.

Qualifications

Education:  High school diploma required, some college preferred.  

 Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in management, warehousing, and/or distribution.

 Skills and Capabilities

The ideal candidate will possess many of these professional and personal abilities and attributes:

  • Advanced-level understanding of business processes within a distribution environment.
  • Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff. 
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn in-house database and reporting systems.
  • Strong communication skills with emphasis on customer service.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work cooperatively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Operate and be licensed for running warehouse equipment, lift-truck, pallet jack, forklift etc.
