Vice President and Chief Development Officer

Position Summary
The Vice President and Chief Development Officer serves as the senior fundraising leader for Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, providing strategic vision, leadership, and execution for all revenue generation activities. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the VP Chief Development Officer is responsible for building and sustaining a comprehensive development program that supports the organization’s mission to end hunger across South Louisiana. This role oversees major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation partnerships, grants, special events, and donor stewardship, while fostering a culture of philanthropy across the organization. The Vice President of Development works closely with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leaders to ensure fundraising strategies align with organizational priorities and long-term sustainability.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports organizational goals and annual revenue targets.
- Oversee the pursuit and management of federal, state, and local government funding.
- Serve as a thought partner to the President & CEO and Executive Leadership Team on philanthropic strategy, donor engagement, and external relations.
- Lead efforts to diversify revenue streams and grow unrestricted and restricted funding.
- Monitor fundraising performance, analyze trends, and adjust strategies to meet or exceed goals.
- Partner with the President & CEO and Board members on major gift asks and relationship management.
- Ensure best-in-class donor stewardship practices that strengthen long-term relationships and donor retention.
- Provide strategic oversight for foundation relations and grant-seeking activities.
- Lead and execute a comprehensive revenue generation strategy encompassing philanthropy, government funding, and other mission-aligned revenue sources.
- Provide executive oversight for signature fundraising events and campaigns.
- Represent Second Harvest at community, donor, and partner events, serving as a visible ambassador for the organization.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Development team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Support and partner with the Board of Directors and relevant committees to advance fundraising efforts.
- Ensure effective use of CRM systems and data to inform strategy, track performance, and support donor engagement.
- Oversee development budgets and ensure responsible fiscal management.
- Ensure compliance with ethical fundraising standards, donor intent, and all applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, including leadership at the senior or executive level.

Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an office setting. This position requires sitting at a desk and in meetings for long periods of time and involves extensive computer work with frequent interruptions. Routine travel to meetings, functions, and special events is normal. Occasionally, warehouse duties for repack or salvage may be required as well as the need to respond to issues outside of normal working hours (e.g., special events, disaster response, etc.). Pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying objects may be required.
Program Coordinator – Greater New Orleans
Location: Orleans and St. Bernard Parish
Reports To: Impact Director – East

Position Summary
The Program Coordinator – Greater New Orleans is responsible for building network capacity within a targeted region in Orleans and St. Bernard Parish. In partnership with the Impact team, the Coordinator manages relationships with partner agencies and programs; ensures consistent implementation of best practices; and designs, conducts comprehensive program evaluation, and recommends new programs and new program directions as needed to address underserved communities and populations. Within his or her service territory, the Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of Second Harvest community food distribution programs including USDA commodities, mobile pantries, and SNAP outreach. The Coordinator also oversees monitoring for child and senior hunger programs including Summer Feeding, and Kids Café.
Accountabilities
- Program Management & Strategy: Serve as the subject matter expert for program delivery, implementation, and evaluation within assigned parishes. Implement comprehensive program strategies with a focus on underserved communities.
- Agency & Community Engagement: Act as frontline support for partner agencies, providing one-on-one technical assistance and troubleshooting. Conduct regular site visits to assess program needs, capacity, and compliance.
- SNAP Outreach & Client Services: Collaborate with the Impact Director to integrate SNAP outreach across all distribution programs. Provide direct SNAP application assistance as needed.
- Compliance, Data & Reporting: Manage programs in compliance with USDA, grant, and organizational requirements. Oversee Neighbor Intake and other tracking systems to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with Operations, Finance, Volunteer Services, Communications, and Development teams to support program execution and outreach.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, community development, social work, sociology, psychology, or other relevant field.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in social service, community outreach, and organizing programs. Strong program evaluation skills.
Skills and Capabilities
- Proven success building community partnerships in Louisiana, preferably New Orleans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interest in community organizing, community food systems, and hunger/poverty issues.
- Ability to keep accurate records and to track and analyze data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office suite.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
Work Environment
The primary office setting has high lighting levels and is temperature controlled. This position requires being in the field 70% of the time, driving up to 50% of the time, and working in an office setting 30% of the time. A vehicle is necessary as is current auto insurance. Some travel for overnight trainings is required. Occasionally, warehouse duties for repack or salvage may be required as well as the need to respond to issues outside of normal working hours. Pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying objects up to 25 pounds may be required.
IT Systems Administrator

Position Summary
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, optimization, and security of SHFB’s hybrid technology environment across all locations (New Orleans, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Houma). This role provides advanced technical support and operational ownership of cloud platforms, core infrastructure systems, endpoints, and enterprise applications. The Systems Administrator partners closely with the Director of IT and SHFB’s Managed Service Provider (MSP) to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology operations. This position plays a key role in cloud system management, security implementation, system upgrades, and continuous technology improvement initiatives.
Accountabilities
- Cloud & Identity Administration: Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), and related cloud-based systems. Manage user provisioning, group policies, and role-based access control.
- Systems & Infrastructure Management: Perform advanced troubleshooting of systems, endpoints, and applications. Manage patching, updates, and configuration standards.
- Security & Risk Management: Implement security best practices across cloud and endpoint environments. Assist with vulnerability remediation and security hardening efforts.
- Endpoint Device Management: Administer endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune). Standardize device configurations and deployment processes.
- MSP Coordination & Technical Oversight: Serve as primary internal escalation point for advanced technical issues. Work with MSP on infrastructure projects and upgrades.
- Technology Improvement & Modernization: Participate in evaluating and implementing new systems and cloud solutions. Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a combination of related education and experience.
- Experience: 3–6 years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, or similar advanced IT roles. Experience administering Microsoft 365 and cloud-based platforms.
Skills and Capabilities
- Strong understanding of cloud systems and identity management.
- Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of endpoint management, patching, and deployment tools.
